Important Information for New Patients

How To Prepare For Your Appointment
On the day of your appointment, please arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled appointment if you have not already completed your new patient paperwork.
It is required that you bring your Dental Insurance card with you if you have one.
A parent or guardian must accompany patients under 18 years of age and remain at the office during the length of the appointment.
Payment for dental services is due at the same time you receive the dental care, unless you have dental insurance.

X-RAYS
Every new patient must have a FMX (full series of x-rays) of diagnostic quality that was taken within the last 3 years. Panoramic xrays are not a substitute for a full series as they don't provide sufficient detail to diagnose cavities and infections.
If your previous dentist has taken x-rays, please request that they forward them to our office via email PRIOR to your appointment. They can be sent to drquinton@brewsterdentalarts.com. We can provided you with a records request form if your previous dentist requires one.
If your FMX was not taken within 3 years, or if your bitewing x-rays are older than a year, they will be taken during your visit. By becoming a patient of the practice, you are agreeing to regular cleanings as well as annual Bite Wing xrays per the guidelines of the American Dental Association.

What To Expect At Your First Visit
Depending on your chief complaint, your initial appointment with Dr. Quinton will consist of an examination and review of your treatment options. If time permits, treatment will be rendered the same day as the consultation. Patients who present for a new patient cleaning will have their teeth cleaned, xrays taken if necessary, their periodontal health assessed and will receive a comprehensive exam from Dr. Quinton if time permits.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your of your visit:
-
Any x-rays taken by a previous dentist, if applicable.
-
A list of medications you are presently taking.
-
Written correspondence from your physician if you have had joint replacement, but no longer premedicate with an antibiotic prior to dental appointments
-
If you have dental insurance, please bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.

Pre-existing Medical Conditions
Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, osteoporosis, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, bisphosphonates, etc.).

Please remember to take your antibiotic premedication 1 hour prior to your appointment if your physician requires this or we may have to reschedule your appointment to ensure your safety.

Insurance
Brewster Dental Arts participates as an in-network provider with the following insurance plan:
Delta Dental Premier

As a courtesy to you, if your insurance is out-of-network, meaning we are not contracted providers with your insurance, we will process and submit claims to your insurance company for reimbursement.
You will be billed the difference between what we receive from your insurance company and our established fees.

Most insurance companies should respond to the claim within four to six weeks, and any remaining cost is the patient's responsibility.

Payment Policies
Patients with Dental Insurance

Claims for all services will be submitted directly to your insurance company

Depending on the level of coverage and annual maximums, insurance companies will cover all or a portion of the cost of said services, and we will bill you the remainder, if any, via monthly account billing statement
-
For some procedures, if the service amount is grossly over the annual maximum, we may ask for an additional payment before treatment is completed, to cover outside laboratory expenses
-
For services/accessories not covered by insurance, such as WaterPiks, electric toothbrushes, prescription toothpaste and teeth whitening, payment is due on the date of service

Patients without Dental Insurance
-
For Services Completed in a Single Visit (e.g.: crowns, fillings, emergency exams, etc) payment in full is due on the day of service
-
For Services Involving Outside Lab Work Requiring Multiple Visits (e.g. bridges, dentures, implant crowns) a payment equal to 50% of the total cost of the case is required when treatment is started on the first date of service
-
The remaining balance is to be paid when the final lab work is delivered

Billing Questions
When Will I Receive A Bill?
-
Patients with insurance will not receive an invoice for treatment rendered until the insurance claim has been processed by your insurer and the amount you owe has been verified. Every insurer processes claims at a different speed.
